KTM Adventure 390 – K&N KT-1217 High-Flow Air Filter

[First Impressions]
If you frequently ride on dirt roads, you’ll probably need to clean it every 1000 ~ 1500 km.
Pros:
- Noticeably quicker throttle response
- Eco-friendly (maybe?)
Cons:
- Cleaning process takes around 30 minutes — mostly waiting for the filter to dry
- Not sure if it could cause long-term wear on the engine (?)

[Cleaning Process]
- Spray the cleaner on the intake side (the dirtier side), make sure it’s fully covered, then let it sit for 10 minutes.
- Rinse with running water from the opposite side to flush out the dirt, then let it air-dry completely.
- Apply filter oil evenly on the intake side of the filter element, and let it sit for 20 minutes.
- Reinstall the filter on the bike.
[Thoughts]
If you like that snappy throttle response and need to ride every day, it might be worth getting a second filter to swap in and out.
Personally, I have a separate commuter bike and don’t ride the KTM Adventure 390 daily, so I don’t mind spending the extra time on maintenance.
